Ikat Traditions: The Mexican Jaspe Rebozo was just published. The book is based on my experience working since 2007 with master weaver, Don Evaristo Borboa and others in Tenancingo, State of Mexico. Ikat Traditions: The Mexican Jaspe Rebozo shares the steps of creating a traditional resist-dyed rebozo on a backstrap loom through text, photographs, and illustrations to preserve and pass on knowledge of this traditional and intricate craft.

The hardcover books arrived during the run of a highly relevant exhibit, Irresistible: The Global Patterns of Ikat, which opened on February 27 at the George Washington University Museum and The Textile Museum in DC. I will be giving a talk online about the book and Mexican jaspe process in July through the Textile Museum, this might be of interest to anyone interested in textiles, ikat ( jaspe) resist-dyeing processes, textile cultural traditions and craft.
